Academic and General Training

Academic

The Academic test will contain topics suitable for anyone entering university or professional institutions. In IELTS, there are four papers: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.The Speaking and Listening tests are the same in both modules, but the Reading and Writing tests are different.

General Training

The IELTS General Training module is undertaken by those wishing to obtain non-academic training or to work abroad. It is also taken for immigration purposes (IELTS UK - VI). The General module tests conversational skills, and ability to comfortably converse in English in general social or professional circumstances.

Listening

The listening component of the IELTS exam lasts for about 30 minutes and consists further of four audio clips that you are required to listen and answer questions based on that clips. The clips played are of various types that rigorously check the listening skills of a student.

Reading

Now let us discuss about the reading section, it lasts for 60 minutes and consists of three passages which you will read and answer questions about. The abstracts are generally pulled out of famous books, newspapers, magazines and sometimes journals.

Writing

Now let’s come to the writing component, it lasts for 60 minutes and comprises of two main tasks. Read the questions carefully and always make sure that you read and understand the question correctly before you start composing your text.

Speaking

Last but not the least is the Speaking component which lasts for about 10-15 minutes. It is a face-to- face interview between the candidate and the examiner. The key is to speak fluently, using appropriate grammar and demonstrate a wide array of vocabulary.
